Join a committee

 

ABM is seeking volunteers who can take an active role in supporting the organization’s key objectives. All members are invited to apply for an open committee position. ABM committee terms are two years, and committees meet quarterly or as needed via Zoom conference call. ABM members are invited to apply for one committee position. Committee chairs will review the list of applicants. Applications for this year's Call for Volunteers are closed.

 

Communications Committee:

This committee will be responsible for facilitating communication of ABM’s mission and activities to individual ABM members and to the general public, using evolving electronic communications platforms and social media. Learn more.

Education Committee:

The Education Committee is responsible for the development of educational products for physicians and breastfeeding professionals. Using ABM-approved procedures (below), the committee identifies relevant clinical topics, recruits expert authors, and facilitates peer, international, and board review processes that are integral to protocol development. It also oversees the formal translation of protocols into languages other than English. Learn More

Fellowship Subcommittee:

The Fellowship Subcommittee will be responsible for reviewing and updating the Fellowship application (FABM) as needed. The subcommittee is also responsible for updating the application instructions, and Appedix-I (Explanation of Points / Scoring) as needed.

Once Fellowship applications are received, the Committee will review the applications, and make a recommendation for those they feel are qualified for designation to the Board of Directors. Learn more

Membership Committee:

This committee will be responsible, either directly or via subcommittees, for the following: 1) proposing membership dues for approval by the Board, 2) developing initiatives to recruit new members and addressing issues which may cause physicians either to leave ABM or to forbear from joining it. Learn more.

Kellogg Grant Task Force:

The purpose of the ABM Kellogg Task Force is to provide subject matter expertise and guide staff and appropriate committees on the aspects of the approved Kellogg grant for Achieving Optimal Breastfeeding Rates and Reducing Breastfeeding Disparities. This task force will ensure that staff and volunteers maintain the spirit of the grant in the below objectives. Learn more.

Translations Subcommittee:

The Translations Sub-Committee is responsible for the translator recruitment and development of translations of the ABM protocols.

Research Subcommittee:

The Research Sub-Committee is responsible for the development of a research network for physicians and breastfeeding professionals. This network will help members of ABM who are interested in collaborating on research projects. Learn More.
