The ABM Annual Conference is the cornerstone of our professional community. It brings together clinicians, researchers, and educators from around the world.

The Conference Program Planning Committee plays a central role in shaping this experience, from developing the program theme to selecting speakers and educational content. This is an opportunity to collaborate with peers, contribute your perspective, and help design a dynamic and engaging conference that advances breastfeeding and lactation medicine. 

About the Role

The Annual Meeting Program Planning Committee is responsible for developing and delivering the educational program for the ABM Annual Meeting.
Committee members work collaboratively to:

  • Develop the Annual Meeting's overall program structure
  • Identify and recruit speakers and faculty
  • Review and shape educational content across sessions
  • Support abstract and session development
  • Contribute to creating a high-quality and engaging conference experience

The committee's work directly influences the educational impact and success of the Annual Meeting. This includes coordinated planning across content development, speaker engagement, and program execution.

What You’ll Contribute

As a member of the task force, you will:

  • Contribute ideas for conference themes, topics, and session formats
  • Recommend and help recruit speakers and subject matter experts
  • Encourage abstract submissions and support content development
  • Participate in program review and selection discussions
  • Serve as a moderator or support conference sessions as needed
  • Collaborate with committee members and staff throughout the planning cycle

Who Should Apply

We are seeking medical doctor members who:

  • Have an interest in educational programming and professional development
  • Bring expertise in clinical practice, research, or education
  • Are collaborative and enjoy working in a team environment
  • Are interested in shaping conference content and learning experiences
  • Are willing to actively participate in planning and program discussions

Time Commitment

  • Participation in planning meetings beginning approximately one year in advance of the conference

  • Ongoing collaboration through virtual meetings and email

  • Attendance at the Annual Meeting

  • Committee term: Two-year term, with the option to serve one additional two-year term for a maximum of four consecutive years
  • Terms begin and end on the final day of the ABM Annual International Meeting.

Conference planning is a cyclical process that includes both structured milestones and ongoing collaboration.
