ABM's awards and scholarship programs help recognize excellence, support professional development, and expand access to opportunities within the global breastfeeding and lactation medicine community.

The Awards Task Force will play a key role in shaping how awards are promoted, distributed, and celebrated across the organization. This is an opportunity to help create fair, transparent, and sustainable processes that support members from diverse backgrounds and regions worldwide.

About the Role

The Awards Task Force is responsible for reviewing ABM's current award and scholarship programs and developing recommendations to strengthen their administration, visibility, and impact. In addition to helping establish sustainable policies and procedures, task force members will participate in reviewing applications and recommendations for awards and scholarship recipients.

Task force members will work collaboratively to:

  • Review existing awards, scholarships, and donation-supported opportunities
  • Develop eligibility criteria and recommendation processes
  • Create consistent and equitable approaches to award distribution
  • Support initiatives that increase awareness of awards and donation opportunities
  • Recommend approaches for recognizing award recipients and celebrating achievements within the ABM community

What You’ll Contribute

As a task force member, you will:

  • Review current award and scholarship programs
  • Help define fair and transparent eligibility and selection processes
  • Review applications and nominations for ABM awards and scholarships
  • Participate in the evaluation of applicants and recommend award recipients for Board approval
  • Contribute ideas for increasing awareness of awards, scholarships, and donation opportunities
  • Assist in developing communication and recognition strategies
  • Support recommendations that promote consistency, sustainability, and equitable access across award programs
  • Participate in collaborative discussions and strategy development
