About the Role

The Fellowship Committee is responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications for Fellowship in the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

Committee members participate in a structured review process that includes:

• Assessing applicant qualifications and experience
• Evaluating contributions to clinical care, education, research, and leadership
• Applying established criteria to ensure consistency and fairness
• Participating in discussions and final recommendations

The committee ensures that Fellowship remains a meaningful and respected designation within the field.

• Evaluate professional experience and contributions to the field
• Provide thoughtful, objective assessments
• Participate in committee discussions and selection decisions
• Help ensure a fair, consistent, and transparent review process

Who Should Apply

Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must be current Fellows of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (FABM) who maintain active ABM membership.

We are seeking current Fellows of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (FABM) who:

• Maintain active ABM membership
• Have experience in clinical practice, education, research, leadership, or advocacy related to breastfeeding and lactation medicine
• Are thoughtful, fair, and detail-oriented in their evaluations
• Are comfortable reviewing applications and making informed recommendations
• Value recognizing excellence and professional achievement within the field

Please note: Service on the Fellowship Committee is limited to current Fellows of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (FABM) who maintain active ABM membership.

Time Commitment

• Participation in the Fellowship application review cycle
• Review of assigned applications within established timelines
• Participation in committee discussions and selection decisions
• Committee term: Two-year term, with the option to serve one additional two-year term for a maximum of four consecutive years
• Terms begin and end on the final day of the ABM Annual International Meeting each year.

The committee’s work is cyclical and aligned with the Fellowship application and review timeline.
