The ABM Leadership Academy is designed to build leadership skills, foster mentorship, and support professional growth across the field. The Leadership Academy Committee plays a central role in shaping this program and ensuring it delivers a meaningful and impactful experience for participants.

About the Role

The Leadership Academy Committee provides oversight and direction for the ABM Leadership Academy program.

Committee members work collaboratively to:

• Support the development and evolution of the Leadership Academy program
• Review and select program participants
• Contribute to curriculum development and program structure
• Support faculty engagement and program delivery
• Evaluate program outcomes and recommend improvements

The committee helps ensure that the program remains relevant, effective, and aligned with ABM’s mission to advance breastfeeding and lactation medicine.

What You’ll Contribute

As a committee member, you will:

• Participate in the review and selection of Leadership Academy applicants
• Contribute ideas to strengthen curriculum and program structure
• Support mentorship and leadership development within the program
• Provide feedback on program effectiveness and participant experience
• Assist in identifying opportunities for program growth and improvement

Who Should Apply

We are seeking medical doctor members who:

• Have leadership experience in clinical, academic, research, or organizational settings
• Are interested in developing and supporting future leaders
• Value mentorship and professional growth
• Bring thoughtful perspectives on leadership development
• Are collaborative and engaged contributors

Time Commitment

• Participation in periodic committee meetings and program discussions

• Involvement in application review and selection processes

• Engagement in program planning, evaluation, and improvement efforts

• Committee term: Two-year term, with the option to serve one additional two-year term for a maximum of four consecutive years

• Terms begin and end on the final day of the ABM Annual International Meeting each year

The committee follows the Leadership Academy program cycle and supports both planning and evaluation activities throughout the year.
