Eyla Boies, MD FABM FAAP

Dr. Eyla Boies is a Health Sciences Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine where she teaches general pediatrics with an emphasis on newborn care and breastfeeding medicine.  She founded and continues to serve as medical director of the UCSD Premature Infant Nutrition Clinic where she has seen over 1300 recently discharged preterm infants and their mothers since 2008. She is a long-time member of Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, former member of the board of directors and secretary of ABM.  Prior to joining UCSD in 1992, she completed medical school, pediatric residency and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Washington University in St. Louis. She is a past president of San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition and a member of American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Breastfeeding.

Gail Herrine, MD FACOG FABM IBCLC

Dr. Herrine is Professor of Ob/Gyn at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, USA. As Medical Director of the Postpartum Unit and Medical Director of Lactation at Temple University Hospital, she led the effort to Baby Friendly certification in 2018. She has served the ABM as a member since 2007, a board member from 2019-2021, and a fellow and life-time member since 2012. She is a member of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s (ACOG) Breastfeeding Expert Work group and is one of the ACOG’s representatives to the United States Breastfeeding Committee. Her research portfolio includes: co-Investigator in an NIHR01 grant to incentive breastfeeding, a PCORI grant to improve Black maternal health, an NIMHD grant to build an app to support breastfeeding in Hispanic families. An advocate for breastfeeding women in North Philadelphia for over 20 years, she serves as a board member of the Breastfeeding Resource Center, a non-profit organization providing lactation services to postpartum patients in the hospital and breastfeeding individuals in the community.

Kristina Lehman, MD FABM NABBLM-C PMH-C

Kristina Lehman, MD, FABM, NABBLM-C, PMH-C is a primary care Internist and Pediatrician in Columbus, OH.  She is the Executive Director of Dr. MILK, founder of the Doctors Practicing Breastfeeding Medicine group on Facebook, and the Vice President of the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine.  She is passionate about educating physicians about Breastfeeding and Lactation and also supporting them in their own parenting journey because when they succeed, their patients benefit.  Dr. Lehman recently opened a concierge-style medical practice where she focuses on caring for families in the 4th trimester, providing Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine consults, and primary care for the whole family. www.lehman.md

Barbara L. Philipp, MD FAAP FABM

Dr. Philipp is Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. She graduated magna cum laude from St. Lawrence University, in Canton NY, received her MD from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, in Syracuse NY, and completed her pediatric residency at Boston City Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital.

After serving as the Pediatric Medical Director of the Mother Baby Unit at Boston Medical Center (BMC) for thirteen years, Dr. Philipp is now a member of the Newborn Medicine Hospitalist Group. She serves as a co-chair of the BMC Baby-Friendly Task Force. Boston Medical Center received Baby-Friendly designation in 1999 and has been re-designated three times, most recently in September 2019, marking over two decades that the hospital has held the designation. In order to help other institutions succeed in this area, she published numerous articles and lectures on the Baby-Friendly process.

In 2022 and 2023, Dr. Philipp served as a co-chair of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine’s one-day course, What Every Physician Needs to Know about Breastfeeding.

She is a 2008 recipient of a St. Lawrence University Alumni Citation for her work in the field of maternal and child health.

Paula K. Schreck, MD IBCLC FABM

Paula K. Schreck MD, IBCLC, FABM attended the University of Michigan Medical School.  She completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of California, San Diego.  She is the creator and medical director of the St. John Mother Nurture Network, a WK Kellogg Foundation-supported innovative and far-reaching breastfeeding initiative that spans her urban hospital and the surrounding community. She is also medical director and co-creator of The Lactation Consultant Program, a unique Pathway 2 academic lactation consultant training program.  She leads quality improvement and Baby-Friendly initiatives for many Ascension Michigan hospitals and also leads quality improvement collaborative in Michigan, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and Kentucky.   She serves as the Chief of Clinical Strategy of Coffective, LLC. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and serves as the Chapter Breastfeeding Coordinator of the Michigan Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
