ABM's Special Interest Groups (SIGs) create opportunities for members to connect, collaborate, and engage with colleagues who share similar professional interests.

SIG Leaders help cultivate these communities by facilitating discussion, encouraging knowledge exchange, and creating opportunities for members to learn from one another. This is an opportunity to build meaningful connections and strengthen engagement across the field of breastfeeding and lactation medicine.

About the Role

SIG Leaders facilitate connections among members with shared interests while supporting networking, collaboration, and professional growth.

ABM currently seeks leaders for the following SIGs:

• Family Physicians
• Neonatology
• OB/GYN
• Pediatrics

SIG Leaders work closely with their members and the SIG Board Liaison to create engaging experiences and support shared goals. Responsibilities include facilitating discussions, coordinating activities, and encouraging participation within the SIG community.

What You’ll Contribute

As a SIG Leader, you will:

• Facilitate discussions through the MyABM member community
• Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among SIG members
• Facilitate the SIG networking discussion during the Annual International Meeting
• Coordinate submission of one article annually for the Inside ABM newsletter
• Host one webinar annually focused on a topic relevant to your SIG
• Participate in quarterly SIG Leader meetings
• Help establish goals and priorities for your SIG community

Who Should Apply

We are seeking medical doctor or trainee members who:

• Are current ABM members and active participants in the SIG they wish to lead
• Enjoy building professional relationships and communities
• Have an interest in facilitating discussion and member engagement
• Are collaborative, organized, and responsive
• Can devote approximately 1–4 hours per month to SIG activities

Time Commitment

• Quarterly SIG Leader meetings
• Ongoing engagement within the MyABM community
• Annual webinar planning and facilitation
• Annual SIG networking discussion during the Annual International Meeting
• Coordination of one annual Inside ABM newsletter contribution
• SIG Leader term: Two-year term, with the option to serve an additional two-year term for a maximum of four consecutive years
• Terms begin and end on the final day of the ABM Annual International Meeting
